Edward
B. Corcoran
Edward B. Corcoran
is a senior member at Corcoran, Peckham,
Hayes, & Galvin, P.C. His practice
is focused in matters of Estate Planning,
Wills, Trusts, Asset Protection, Probate
and Real Estate. He was born in Newport
and graduated from Brown University and
Columbia Law School. He was a member of
the Middletown Town Council from 1976-1987
and was its President from 1982-1987.
He also served as Middletown Town Moderator,
as Town Solicitor for the Town of Middletown
and as a member of the Town of Middletown
Zoning Board of Review. Mr. Corcoran is
extremely active in local charitable organizations,
most notably as co-chair with his wife,
Ruth, of the Newport Hospital Vision 2001
Capital Campaign. He recently received
the inaugural Harold B. Soloveitzik Professional
Leadership Award from the Rhode Island
Foundation for his civic and charitable
efforts.

William W. Corcoran is

and Probate. Mr. Corcoran was born in
Newport and attended Brown University
and Boston College Law School, where he
was a member of the Law Review. He was
a member of the Newport City Council from
1967-1971, was a member of the Redevelopment
Agency of Newport, and has been active

organizations. He is a General Counsel

Patrick
O’N. Hayes, Jr.
Patrick O’N. Hayes,
Jr. is a member who has practiced law
in Newport for over thirty years. He concentrates
his practice in Estate Planning, Asset
Protection, Wills and Trusts, Probate,
and Real Estate Development. Mr. Hayes
was born in Newport. He is a 1969 graduate
of the College of the Holy Cross and a
1974 graduate of Suffolk University Law
School. He served as Town Solicitor for
the Town of Tiverton from 1978-1982, Legal
Counsel to Rhode Island Senate Finance
Committee from 1981-1983, as a member
of the Committee on Professional Ethics
and Responsibility from 1982-1983, and
on the Steering Committee for the Newport
Comprehensive Planning Commission. He
was a director of the Newport County Chamber
of Commerce from 1993-1999 and is a past
director of the Newport County Boys and
Girls Club. Mr. Hayes is a member of the
National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
Mr. Hayes has vast experience providing

and probate matters, and to individuals
and businesses for zoning and real estate
transactions and other legal issues.

Neil
P. Galvin
Neil P. Galvin is a member
with over twenty-five years of experience
practicing law in Newport. He practices
in the areas of Real Estate Development
and Transactions, Zoning, Wills and Trusts,
Probate, Commercial Law, Education Law,
Banking Law, Civil Litigation and Personal
Injury. He was born in Newport and graduated
from Fairfield University in 1975 and
from Suffolk Law School in 1978. He was
a member of the Newport School Committee
from 1981-1985 and has been its General
Counsel since 1987. He is also a Trustee
of the Bank of Newport and a member of
the Newport Lions Club. He also serves
as an Arbitrator for the Rhode Island
Court Annexed Arbitration Program. Neil’s
clients include Carnegie Abbey Club, LLC,
the Newport School Committee, the Spouting
Rock Beach Association, Girls and Boys
Town and many other businesses and individuals.
Notably, he has served as counsel to Carnegie
Abbey Club, LLC, in its development of
a $200 million mixed residential and golf
course project in the Town of Portsmouth,
Rhode Island.

Joseph
H. Olaynack, III
Joseph H. Olaynack, III
is a member with the firm who concentrates
his practice in Real Estate Law, Construction
Law, Environmental Law, Civil Litigation,
Business Formation, Estate Planning, Wills
and Trusts, and Personal Injury. He has
particular interest in advising small
businesses regarding the variety of legal
issues that they face. Mr. Olaynack was
born in Newport and attended Worcester
Polytechnic Institute, where he graduated
in 1987 with a degree in Civil Engineering,
and is a 1997 graduate of Boston College
Law School. Before attending law school
he worked for several years with the firm
KPMG as a civil engineer, project engineer,
project manager and management consultant.
He is a member of the Board of Directors
of the Newport County YMCA, a member of
the Rotary Club, and a governor of Newport
Hospital.

Matthew
H. Leys
Matthew H. Leys is a member
at the firm. He concentrates his practice
in Civil Litigation, including zoning
matters, property rights and boundary
disputes, contract disputes, construction
litigation, landlord/tenant matters, labor
and employment discrimination defense,
trust and probate litigation, and commercial
litigation. He also has experience in
drafting Wills and Trusts, probating estates
and with representing parties in real
estate transactions. He was born in Newport,
is a cum laude graduate of Providence
College, and attended the University of
Glasgow, Scotland. He received his law
degree from the University of Texas School
of Law in Austin, Texas, where he received
the Baron & Budd Scholarship in Public
Interest Law and the Dean’s Achievement
Award for Criminal Procedure. After law
school he served as judicial law clerk
to the late Rhode Island Supreme Court
Justice Victoria Lederberg during the
2000-2001 court term before joining Corcoran,
Peckham, Hayes & Galvin.

Girard A. Galvin is an associate
at the firm. Girard concentrates his practice
in Civil Litigation, including landlord/tenant
matters, personal injury, zoning matters,
property rights and boundary disputes,
contract disputes, and family law. Girard
is admitted to practice in the Rhode Island
State Courts and also licensed to practice
in Rhode Island Federal District Court.
He also practices in the areas of wills
and trusts, probate, and real estate transactions.
Girard was born in Boston, Massachusetts,
and grew up in Newport and Portsmouth,
Rhode Island. He is a Magna Cum Laude
graduate of James Madison University in
Harrisonburg, Virginia, and also attended
the University of London in London, England.
Prior to law school, Girard was employed
by the House Armed Services Committee
in the United States House of Representatives.
He received his law degree from George
Mason University School of Law, in Arlington,
Virginia in May 2005. In his final semester
of law school, Girard clerked for the
United States Senate Judiciary Committee,
which has jurisdiction over a wide spectrum
of matters affecting the legal system.

and the U.S. District Court for the District
of Rhode Island in 1993. He is a member
of the Newport County, Rhode Island and
American Bar Associations and serves on
the Newport Redevelopment Agency and the
Cliff Walk Commission. He is also a member
of the Board of Directors of the Newport
County Chamber of Commerce and a number
of philanthropic organizations. He is
the owner and Chief Operating Officer
of the Newport Tent Company.
